I had the dealer change the ATF at 120,000 miles. Trans was working fine when I sold the car. FWIW, I changed the oil every 15,000 - 20,000 miles when the car told me to. Used a quart of oil every 7,000-8,000 miles when I sold it. BMW got it right with lifetime ATF and oil change frequency as far as I'm concerned.
Transfer Case Oil Change DIY. I couldn't find a transfer case (TC) oil change DIY for the F25 X3, so I'm posting my experience. Accessing either the fill or drain plugs really requires a special BMW transfer case/differential tool. I purchased one from bavauto for $30.
