WoW has vertical progression, as in your character increases in level and everything you do is about getting stronger gear and higher level. Then a new patch drops and everything you did becomes obsolete. In GW2 the strongest gear is ascended, and that’s been the case for almost the entire lifespan of the game.

New World is more of a survival-craft MMO. More grindy and less complex combat. Good choice if you like the grind or want to be there to ride the population wave for large PvP. GW2 has more complex combat and FAR more content. Good choice if you just want to PvP or want a stable PvP population. Either way you'll need to pay money.

There is enough content to enjoy, and with no sub, it is fairly cheap for what you get imo.
