Itdoes seem like a fuel pressure issue. Coil problems are usually more regular and will be picked up on a scanner anyway. These JTS engines are sensitive to fuel pressure but I would get the specs for the fuel pressure sensor and measure with a multi meter as it may be just that which of course compounds when it sends faulty data albeit

The GM/Holden engine in your Brera is totally different. Also you mention chain as if singular, from memory there are 3 chains to drive the cams in the 3.2 JTS.
2 buy a used one, but genuine Alfa 3/ buy an OEM version that can be seen at around 350 Euros - looks like people had some problems with low quality 4/ buy a sports cat : found an expensive one for the TS, but none for the JTS If MOT would not be a problem (hypothesis), what about the following 5th option :
